New Meaning Review – GamersHeroes

GamersHeroes is a blockchain-based game that uses ERC20 tokens. GHR creates an esports platform for gamers, and the token reward system incentivizes players to win in competitive games against one another. The team behind GamersHeroes believes they have solved some of the biggest problems plaguing current competitive gaming entities (eSports) by creating a new revenue model with their own token

GamersHeroes is an online multiplayer game that has a lot of depth. The game includes many different aspects, but the most popular one is the “babylon’s fall walkthrough“.

New Meaning seeks to convey a powerful message about mental illness, but fails miserably. It’s difficult to care about anything in this visual novel since everyone is reduced to a fleeting stereotype.

As most visitors of this blog are aware, adolescence can be a difficult period. New Meaning, a visual novel by Brave Lobster Studios about a boy still struggling to find his place in the world, having players (hopefully) relive these days. Is it OK for players to assist this young man on his trip, or does he need to mature?

Review of a New Meaning

Luke Wilson had it tough — his father lost his job, he suffers with arithmetic, and he’s not sure how to win Jasmine’s heart. With all of his life’s failures, he’s on the verge of giving up everything — forever. However, before committing suicide, he assures himself that he would allow himself three days to figure out what life is all about before taking dramatic measures.

Enter the player, who will lead Luke through his daily decisions over the next 72 hours. One may select the appropriate phrase to speak, the appropriate text message to read, or even the appropriate film to watch. However, a decision must be taken at the conclusion of this time period.

At least, that’s what you’d assume — New Meaning falls prey to the illusion of choice. While it may seem like talking someone out of injuring themselves is the obvious decision, the game will battle you every step of the way if you choose the reasonable alternative. Even if you choose the same option many times (with various dialog prompts), the ultimate outcome is always the game’s preferred option.

As a consequence, things might soon become aggravating. One might argue that this is what goes through the head of someone suffering from mental illness, but the execution is shoddy. Things go much too quickly from 0 to 100, with even an apparently innocuous test result in the 70s leading to self-harm.

Luke’s relationships with others are also marred by bad writing. Things seem way too cliched for their own good, relying on clichés and one-note traits that players have undoubtedly seen a thousand times before. When one’s buddy is a walking cliche, it’s difficult to care about the big hockey game – particularly considering the limited amount of screentime characters get at any one time.

This game also doesn’t overstay its welcome — we finished it in about a half-hour. Despite the fact that there are various options, we get the impression that all playthroughs will be rather similar.

Regrettably, the audiovisual presentation is also inadequate. The artwork is mediocre, and the music may be rather aggressive. It’s not a really enjoyable game to play.

New Meaning seeks to convey a powerful message about mental illness, but fails miserably. It’s difficult to care about anything in this visual novel since everyone is reduced to a fleeting stereotype.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, developed by Big Bad Wolf and published by Nacon, is a narrative-driven role-playing game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade environment, which is part of the World of Darkness IP. It’s a stand-alone game that doesn’t need any prior knowledge of the World of Darkness universe, although those who are acquainted with the setting will find a lot more complexity and story.
